Changes to the Workshop Programme

Explore Singing and Acting groups in Manchester and Gateshead have just finished their first terms looking at The Marriage of Figaro and The Magic Flute. You can see Billie singing a fantastic solo at the end of term sharing, supported by the group. Two new Explore Singing and Acting groups will start in Middlesbrough at mima and in Nottingham at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall at the end of April.

Drop-in workshops continue at Crisis Skylight in London, Virginia House in Newcastle, the Booth Centre in Manchester and the Huggard Centre in Cardiff. Performers from these groups will be able to graduate to the 'Explore Singing and Acting' groups when they are ready for a new challenge.

Our new two-stage Workshop Programme is supported by a series of 4-6 week Residencies in homeless centres which aim to raise confidence and self-esteem and give people a taste of what joining Streetwise would be like. Read more.

We've just finished a fantastic Residency at St Mungo's Wellbeing Centre looking at  La bohème with a group of people completely new to Streewtise. In the third sessions they presented parts of the opera they'd been working on, complete with a backdrop of Parisian chimneys and props they made in their art room (above).

This new structure means that we are no longer working full time at The Connection at St. Martin's, Passage and St. Silas Church although we plan to return at different points during the year with the Residency Programme. Huge thanks to all the staff and volunteers who have supported us in these centres over the years - we couldn't have done any of it without you!
