Streetwise Opera Manchester performs the world premiere of 'Kingdoms Come and Kingdoms Go', an opera chorus composed by our Manchester Composer in Residence, Anna Appleby. 

The new composition is inspired by Benjamin Britten’s Canticles, which was Streetwise Opera’s inaugural production in 2002. Anna was one of five Streetwise Opera Composers in Residence who composed a chorus inspired by Britten’s work with lyrics by our performers. The performance took place as part of our Manchester Opera Hour at HOME on 11 April 2017.

Streetwise Opera Middlesbrough performs the world premiere of 'The Flower Seed', an opera chorus composed by our Middlesbrough Composer in Residence, Bushra El-Turk.

The new composition is inspired by Benjamin Britten’s Canticles, which was Streetwise Opera’s inaugural production in 2002. Bushra was one of five Streetwise Opera Composers in Residence who composed a chorus inspired by Britten’s work with lyrics by our performers. The performance took place as part of our Middlesbrough Opera Hour at Middlesbrough Central Library on 16 March 2017.

Streetwise Opera Newcastle/Gateshead performs the world premiere of 'The Light', an opera chorus composed by our Newcastle/Gateshead Composer in Residence, Ella Jarman-Pinto.

The new composition is inspired by Benjamin Britten’s Canticles, Ella was one of five Streetwise Opera Composers in Residence who composed a chorus inspired by Britten’s work with lyrics by our performers. The performance took place as part of our Newcastle/Gateshead Opera Hour at the Gosforth Civic Theatre on 9 March 2017.

Streetwise Opera Nottingham performs the world premiere of 'The Door', an opera chorus composed by our Nottingham Composer in Residence, Alex Patterson.

The new composition is inspired by Benjamin Britten’s Canticles, which was Streetwise Opera’s inaugural production in 2002. Alex was one of five Streetwise Opera Composers in Residence who composed a chorus inspired by Britten’s work with lyrics by our performers. The performance took place as part of our Nottingham Opera Hour at the Nottingham Playhouse on 2 March 2017.
