Streetwise Opera will be producing a ground-breaking world premiere production inspired by the house where both Handel and Hendrix lived on Brook Street, London (now the Handel House Museum). Time Flows (A Handel and Hendrix Experience) brings together arias and duets by Handel, Hendrix songs and new music woven together with a libretto by Christina Jones. The promenade performance will take audiences on a magical and colourful journey spanning two centuries alongside two hopeful lovers and their guides in the awesome warehouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London’s Docklands.

Time Flows (A Handel and Hendrix Experience) sees Streetwise Opera working with professional musicians and producers from the London Handel Festival, Handel House Museum and participants from four homeless agencies in London. With a three month programme of weekly workshops already underway, this project will involve around 100 homeless and ex-homeless people.

In keeping with our aims of engendering respect and understanding for the homeless, Streetwise Opera will also be hosting a Gala Performance of the production that subverts the usual concept of an opera gala. As well as invited guests, sponsors and supporters of the project, a large number of tickets will be given free to the homeless, their friends and family. This promises to be a wonderful evening starting with a trip down the Thames on two boats from Tower Bridge and drinks and canapés provided by Delectable Feasts after the performance with the cast and crew in attendance before both groups return to Tower Bridge by boat.
