Vivienne Westwood couture gown auction

World-famous fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood has generously donated a dress for Streetwise Opera Patron, soprano Elizabeth Watts to wear at the BBC Last Night of the Proms on 13 September. The dress is being auctioned with all proceeds going to Streetwise Opera.

The auction is running on eBay (whose fees are waived for charity clients)  from 4.30pm on Monday 8 September to 4.30pm on Thursday 18 September. Click here to start bidding!

Elizabeth Watts said, ‘I am thrilled to be Patron of the dynamic, ingenious and truly valuable charity that is Streetwise Opera. So often the homeless are part of a grey backdrop to our day, ignored and made to feel as if their human worth has been stolen. The fact that such an eminent designer as Vivienne Westwood has donated this dress speaks of the value of Streetwise's work.’

Brigitte Stepputtis, Head of Couture at Vivienne Westwood said, ‘The theatrical costume of the Opera has often been a core aesthetic of the Vivienne Westwood brand and so we were keen to support this worthwhile cause, by auctioning a gown to raise money for this charity. Hopefully everybody will love the dress so much they will all want to bid to win it, raising lots of money for Streetwise Opera.’

We are delighted by the generosity of both Dame Vivienne and Elizabeth and hope that the sale of the dress will raise a significant sum for our work.
