Queen Mary Hostel, Greencoat Place, SW1
Tuesdays 4.30-5.30pm (open to residents of Queen Mary’s and by appointment)
Queen Mary hostel has been providing a service to homeless women for nearly 90 years. Originally, the site was run by Church Army as a hostel for displaced women from different backgrounds and many capable of working. Many of the women worked in the hostel as part of the conditions of their residence.
Today, Queen Mary’s is a mental health supported housing service, providing support within a safe environment for single homeless women. They encompass a large age range; the lower age limit is 18 and there is no upper age limit. They support all residents to achieve positive outcomes, recognizing the diverse needs and different life choices of individual service users, embracing these in the support that we offer.
The Passage, Carlisle Place, SW1
Tuesdays 1.30pm-3.30pm (group singing and acting, open to Passage clients)
Their mission is to p
rovide resources which encourage, inspire and challenge homeless people to transform their lives.
Based in Carlisle Place, Victoria, the organisation offers a wide range of services, year round to help homeless and vulnerable people. They operate London’s largest voluntary sector day centre, including street outreach work in our local area and a 40 bed direct access hostel, Passage House, off the Vauxhall Bridge Road, SW1. They also manage 16 self contained flats in Montfort House which is located above the Day Centre in Carlisle Place, where on-site support workers help residents prepare for moving on to housing association or council accommodation.
The Passage believes in a ‘hand up’ not a ‘hand out’ for homeless people. Our approach is to address the root causes that have led to someone becoming homeless in order to help them break the cycle once and for all.
