Booth Centre, Manchester Cathedral, M3
Wednesdays 1-3pm (singing and drama workshops open to all users of the centre)
In April 2009 we started a new workshop programme in Manchester at the Booth Centre in artistic partnership with Opera North. This is an exciting three-way partnership where Streetwise Opera is delivering its music programme which is embedded into the programme of the Booth Centre.

The Booth Centre is an advice and activities centre for homeless people based in Manchester Cathedral. The Centre runs drop-in and advice surgeries and provides specialist support to homeless people with drug, alcohol and mental health problems. A full programme of activities including education, creative arts, gardening and sports aim to increase people’s skills, confidence and self esteem and en
able people to gain nationally recognised qualifcations. The Centre runs a supported volunteering programme and supports people to move on to employment when they are ready. More information is available on their website www.boothcentre.org.uk
Opera North are providing resources such as theatre tickets, performing/workshop space, work placement opportunities, back-stage tours, links to artists. The content of the workshops is designed around the opera season so currently we are working on music and themes from Paradise Moscow.
